What you don't want... NO...what you want!

I’ve been reading a lot about the role of positive messages, visualisation, affirmations, NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and Accelerated learning lately. It is also part of my job to study the brain and how the brain learns. And I’ve come to the conclusion that we all have change magic inside us.
What is change? People constantly use this word - go on, listen to yourself…and those around you. Count how many times you hear the word during the next few hours. Ironically, the more we use it, the less we act it! So can you define change? Well, to quote my friend and author Peter Freeth, “Change isn’t something you do - it’s something you notice after it has happened”.So many problem solving methodologies focus on the negative: the problem…instead of the solution. “Looking in your rear view mirror might have some historical interest, but looking out of your windscreen is far more useful”. We should focus on solutions - a much more useful exercise than looking for reasons (or excuses) why a problem exists. You have to change your thinking! Declare problems irrelevant…focus on solutions. As Einstein quite rightly said:” You cannot solve a problem with the same thinking that created the problem”.
So, regard problems as signposts to the past. Useful indicators of choices NOT to make again when things have gone wrong. But look forward. Take different action if you expect a different result.
O yes, another useful idea. Nothing is true. Many people have ideas about them being right and you’re being wrong. And in a way, everyone is right from their point of view. So try this. Avoid arguments about wrong or right, true or false…decide that ideas are useful or not useful. It is easier to evaluate ideas if you don’t have to keep their owners happy. Accept all ideas as being valid…some just more useful than others. Less conflict…
Well, I’m going out there with an easier mind. I won’t focus on change, just enjoy the difference that leads from my actions and thinking (differently…forward…)
Good luck..focus on what you WANT. Visualise it. Feel it. Taste it. Breathe it. Imagine yourself in it. Enjoy it.
Go on…use your change magic.E.W.
